Aromatherapy Hyssop
Hyssopus officinalis
Another oil from the large Labiate family,
hyssop is well known
for its medicinal uses, and is excellent as a tonic. The oil is
obtained from cultivated plants in Provence and Germany, and
is often used in eau-de-cologne. The Hebrews called this plant
Ezob and our name for hyssop stems from this: 'Purge me with
hyssop and I shall be clean', Psalm 51 :9. It is especially good for
asthma and related problems, in fact any respiratory problem.
It is a small plant with thin leaves and small blue flowers, both
of which are used in distillation to obtain essential oil.
