Aromatherapy Melissa
Melissa officinalis
The local name in southern Europe is 'heart's delight', and it is often
called the 'elixir of life'. Melissa has been used medicinally
since the seventeenth century, and is a very cheering oil, making
a good general tonic. This Labiate is also known as balm oil, and
is obtained by distilling the leaves and tops, which contain very
little essential oil -the reason why the true oil is so expensive.

Caution
Is expensive and often adulterated with lemongrass
or citrus oils. Not to be taken internally. Has been identified as a narcotic.
Not to be used in the first five months of pregnancy. Use in low concentrations only.
