Aromatherapy Myrrh
Commiphora myrrha
Myrrh is a gum
resin which naturally exudes from the trunk of
this member of the Burseraceae family, and is then distilled for
the essential oil. Used in rejuvenating face masks during
Egyptian times, and also for embalming. Mentioned in ancient
history (about 1700 BC). When Joseph was sold by his brothers
to the Ishmaelite caravan, their camels were carrying
gum, balm
and myrrh to Egypt. Myrrh is a hormonal oil and is said to be
a sexual tonic.
