PatchouliPogostemon patchouliPatchouli evokes a strong response in anyone who smells this essential oil. It is either loved or hated. Its pungent, earthy scent is long-lasting and is considered an aphrodisiac. Very little of the oil is needed to create a lovely essence, massage oil, or skin care blend. Patchouli is believed to be antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, sedative in low doses, and stimulating in high doses. This oil helps regenerate skin cells and is useful for aged skin, cracked skin, acne, dandruff, eczema, and other skin problems. Patchouli oil has been used in combination with both sandalwood and frankincense to aid meditation and contemplation. Patchouli originated in Malaysia and India. Now it is also grown in the West Indies, China, Indonesia, and Paraguay. The essence has been widely used in perfumery as a fixative. Patchouli is a nurturing oil when someone is in a state of anxiety and depression. Patchouli is deep and tenuous. Its scent lingers long after other essential oils have faded. It is a good base note in a personal perfume when used sparingly. Patchouli is probably the most abused essential oil when it comes to overuse. Very little is needed to create a long-lasting, lovely, personal essence, massage oil, or skin-care blend. General properties
