Ammon. mur.Ammonium muriaticumWhen it was introduced to the West in the 2nd century, ammonium chloride was of great importance to alchemists. Today, it is used as an electrolyte in batteries and in galvanizing, tinning, and soldering. It is also used in orthodox cough and cold medicines. Up until the 9th century ammonium chloride came from a single source, the Fire Mountain in central Asia; now it is manufactured. Parts UsedAmmonium chloride. UsesAmmon. mur. is given for lung conditions, such as bronchitis, coughs, and pneumonia in which thick, tenacious mucus is produced. Symptoms include a slimy feeling in the mouth and throat, swollen glands and neck, a low backache, and tendons that feel tight, as if they are too short.
