Ammon.

Ammon. carb.

Ammonium carbonicum

Ammonium carbonate was once used as smelling salts to revive those who had fainted. It was also used for centuries to treat blood-poisoning from scarlet fever. Hahnemann found it to have a much wider range of actions when potentized.

Ammonium carbonate.

Uses

This remedy is used when there is a lack of oxygenation to the tissues, for example in respiratory problems and mild heart failure. It has also been given for chronic fatigue syndrome.

Prepared chemically from sodium carbonate and ammonium chloride.

Ammon. mur.

Ammonium muriaticum

When it was introduced to the West in the 2nd century, ammonium chloride was of great importance to alchemists. Today, it is used as an electrolyte in batteries and in galvanizing, tinning, and soldering. It is also used in orthodox cough and cold medicines. Up until the 9th century ammonium chloride came from a single source, the Fire Mountain in central Asia; now it is manufactured.

Ammonium chloride.

Uses

Ammon. mur. is given for lung conditions, such as bronchitis, coughs, and pneumonia in which thick, tenacious mucus is produced. Symptoms include a slimy feeling in the mouth and throat, swollen glands and neck, a low backache, and tendons that feel tight, as if they are too short. This remedy is also given for lumbago and sciatica that is worse on the left side.
