'Zephirine Drouhin' Roses

Bourbon, Introduced - 1868

'Zephirine Drouhin' rose bears semi-double blooms having cerise-pink hue. These loosely formed roses appear in abundance in spring and thereafter continue to repeat sporadically till the fall. During the fall the plants once again flower heavily.

The flowers of this rose have a sweet fragrance. Each flower of 'Zephirine Drouhin' measures anything between 3 ½ inches and 4 ½ inches across. The new leaves of the plant have a coppery purple color, which changes to dark green as they mature.

The canes are smooth almost without any thorns. This rose has a vigorous upright growth with a climbing habit. You can also prune 'Zephirine Drouhin' as a shrub and grow it in a large border. Alternatively, you may also display this rose in the form of a specimen. 'Zephirine Drouhin' also makes an excellent formal hedge.

You may also train the plant to grow as a climber on a fence, trellis or porch where the plants may grow up to a height of 20 feet. As the canes don't produce any thorns, it is also an excellent choice for growing near play areas of close to walkways.
