Macmillan Nurse ( Spencer )

Named after a nursing charity, the blooms of this variety of sweet pea from Spencer have a supple orange-pink or salmon pink hue. When the flowers blossom initially they are faintly salmon orange hued and gradually become paler and turns pastel rose. The petals grow straight and are widely tousled having a tidy rose wire. Gradually they fade into pale rose to white color at the centre. The overturned side of the petals has the same color. The wings of 'Macmillan Nurse' are somewhat parallel or slanted towards the top over the keel. The wings are also tousled and have a whitish-pink picotee or edge. They are less colorful compared to the petals. The flowers are nicely aromatic.

The petals are nicely undulating, visibly rayed, have a sugar pink hue with whitish color along the edges. The overturned side has a lighter hue. The wings of the flower have the same color as the petals, are undulating, curved and paler on the overturned side. Normally, the flowers have an inclination to lose color as they mature.

Mrs C. Kay ( Spencer )

Spencer's 'Mrs. C. Kay' selection of sweet peas bears lavender hued blooms that are heavily perfumed. Some time ago this variety of sweet pea flowers was popular for their color and extensively cultivated.

Mrs Collier ( Grandiflora )

Blooms of the 'Mrs. Collier' sweet pea collection from Grandiflora are gorgeous and delicate with a faint creamy white hue. The buds of the flowers are yellow, while the petals are smoothed, vaguely creamy white and visibly folded. Some of the petals grow straight, while others are slanted to the fore. The underside of the petals has a darker hue resembling a near primrose color. The wings are tidily slanted down just about the creamy keel and somewhat curved at the sides. The wings are more like the petals, but have a little darker blue hue. They have a lighter shade at the bottom. Blooms of 'Mrs. Walter Wright' are bold and have big covered petals and nicely shaped wings. Normally, each stalk of the plant bears three flowers.
